The Hampton Roads Workforce Council Hosts the Regional NextGen Opportunity Fair
WHAT: The Hampton Roads Workforce Council will host the annual NextGen Opportunity Fair. This marks the seventh year the Youth Career Center will host the fair to assist teens and young adults in gaining access to employment, volunteer, and post-secondary education opportunities.
The Fair attracts more than 300 attendees and nearly 80 vendors annually— successfully connecting businesses and organizations with the emerging workforce. Participating businesses and organizations include: Jersey Mike’s Subs, Givens, Inc., Hampton Roads Regional Jail, AAA Pool Services, Inc., BAE Systems, Inc., The Virginia Zoo, and Tidewater Community College.
WHO: Sponsored by the City of Chesapeake, the Hampton Roads Regional NextGen Opportunity Fair will feature businesses and organizations from the region looking to hire new talent. The fair is free for teens and young adults ages 16-24, as well as vendors. Jobseekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and dress for a professional interview with employers onsite.
