American Graduate Best Practice Hampton: Every Child, Every Day, Whatever It Takes
Linda Shifflette, Superintendent of Hampton City Schools embraces the slogan, “Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes.” She says, “It has become what we do, who we are and I am so gratified when I go into schools and people are talking about children and the supports they need, the learning that they need, but they are talking about it in terms of the individual child.”
Dr. Shifflette, Superintendent of Hampton City Schools asked, "What is it that we want to do and how can we put it in a few short words." And so the school district embraced the slogan, “Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes.” She says it is more than a slogan, “It has become what we do, who we are and I am so gratified. When I go into schools and people are talking about children and the supports they need, the learning that they need, and they are talking about it in terms of the individual child. Each member of Hampton City Schools is important to our missions - teachers, bus drivers, custodians, principals, nurses, counselors, and all support staff. Along with our parents and community, we are all part of the team to ensure success for Every Child, Every Day...Whatever it takes."
